OAKLAND — As Wisconsin’s public workers fight to keep their collective bargaining rights despite their governor’s controversial proposal to curtail them, sympathizers in California and other states are showing solidarity in rallies Tuesday.
California’s largest demonstration is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the state capitol in Sacramento, organized by the California Teachers Association and the California State Federation of Labor.
For those who can’t make the protest and candlelight vigil, the Oakland teacher’s union has organized a simultaneous rally at the Oakland State Building, 1515 Clay St.
Labor protests were also expected Tuesday in Ohio and Michigan, Education Week reported.
